Shishkaberry Grow Report

Barney’s Farm’s exquisite Cali collection currently includes 13 strains, with the nearly pure indica (80%) Shiskaberry being one of them. This strain is a must-grow for the die-hard indica enthusiast, The Doc.

Although he would have grown it without any prior knowledge, he was intrigued and researched the promising characteristics of this variety.

The breeders at Barney’s Farm have dedicated years to its development, perfecting it to their satisfaction. The mother plant is the sublime fruit strain classic, Blueberry, while the father plant, a classic old-school Afghani, provides robustness and reliability.

The hybridization of these two resulted in a potent indica plant with above-average indoor yields (500-600g/m2) within a relatively short flowering period of 7-8 weeks.

Growth Characteristics and Yield Potential of Shiskaberry

Shiskaberry also thrives outdoors, thanks to its early finishing time under natural light in the third to fourth week of September.

Its mold resistance, rated at 4 on a scale of 5, is another advantage for both outdoor and indoor cultivation.

Despite its short stature, with an extended vegetative stage, it can yield up to 1.5-2kg per plant outdoors.

Its intense earthy sweet berry aroma is another strength, as is its effect, which Barney’s describes as lifting the user to a meditative, philosophical, spiritual level, promising deep relaxation and happiness.

The Doc’s Growing Experience with Shiskaberry

During the vegetative stage, Shiskaberry grows into ultra-compact bushes with dark green wide foliage. The Doc, a highly experienced master grower, found the strain easy to grow, with the two feminized seeds germinating successfully within three days.

He allowed his two Shiskaberry plants a five-week vegetative period due to their heavily indica dominant nature. During the first four weeks of flowering, the plants stretched, opening their canopy and allowing the flower formations to develop magnificently.

The buds, typical of indica strains, swelled over the weeks, covered in resin. The aroma they exuded was reminiscent of collecting berries in a forest clearing after rain, a blend of earthy spiciness and sweet, slightly tart berry scent.

Shiskaberry Harvest Results and User Experience

After exactly 56 days, the two Shiskaberry plants were fully mature. Despite their stocky size, the dense, solid buds yielded a surprising 198 grams in total.

The bouquet gained a savory sweet note of honey during the drying process, resulting in a captivating berrylicious scent. The captivating scent translated into a similarly captivating taste when The Doc sampled Shiskaberry for the first time.

The vapor from his Mighty vaporizer delivered a berry-sweet spiciness that lingered on the palate. The high led to introspection and contemplation, leaving The Doc feeling at peace with himself and the world.

He concluded that Shiskaberry is a true champion strain, excelling in growth and bloom performance, yield, flavor, and its meditative happiness effect.
