Tangerine Dream Grow Report

Tangerine Dream is not just a renowned name in the world of music but also a significant strain in the cannabis world.

This German band, which reached its zenith in the 1970s, is globally recognized as a pioneer of electronic music. When a prestigious cannabis seed bank like Barney’s Farm names a strain after this iconic band, expectations soar.

The Tangerine Dream strain by Barney’s Farm is a blend of three legendary varieties: G13, Afghan, and Neville’s A5 Haze. This 1970s old-school genetics pays homage to its namesake, promising a unique experience.

Genetic Composition – A Blend of Classics

The genetic fusion of these three classics results in a plant with a slight sativa dominance (60%). It grows to a medium height and completes its flowering stage within 60-65 days.

Suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation, Tangerine Dream promises a generous yield. Indoors, yields of 600 grams per sqm are achievable by skilled growers.

The strain produces large, heavy buds that may require support as they mature.

True to its name, Tangerine Dream exudes a vibrant citrus aroma, with a taste profile that leans heavily towards tropical sweetness and citrus.

The Vegetative Stage – Rapid Growth and Branching

The Doc, an old-school grower familiar with the Tangerine Dream band’s heyday, took on the task of testing this strain.

The seeds germinated rapidly, showcasing Barney’s signature speed. The plants exhibited vigorous branching, resulting in a bushy appearance by the end of the vegetative phase.

Transitioning to the flowering stage saw the plants standing between 30 and 33 cm tall, with leaves hinting more at sativa than the expected 60:40 sativa/indica ratio.

Flowering Stage – A Silver Rush of Resin

The plants underwent an extended stretching phase during flowering, more than doubling in height. However, they retained their compactness, making them ideal for indoor cultivation.

The plants exhibited robust flowering vigor, producing dense buds with a high calyx-to-leaf ratio. As flowering progressed, the plants became heavily coated in trichomes, giving them a silvery appearance.

The buds emitted a strong citrus fragrance, reminiscent of tangerines or oranges.

One of the plants even developed purple hues on its sugar leaves, enhancing its visual appeal. After 64 days, The Doc harvested the plants, which were easy to manage due to their moderate height and low leaf count.

Post-Harvest Results – A Citrus Delight

The harvested buds weighed in at a combined 223 grams, meeting The Doc’s expectations.

The dried buds retained their citrus aroma, which became even more pronounced after drying.

Tangerine Dream Smoke Report

The Doc’s vaping test with the Tangerine Dream strain was a delightful experience. The vapor tasted as it smelled, offering a tropical tangerine flavor.

The effects were uplifting and energizing, typical of a sativa, but also provided physical relaxation. The strain’s effects lasted for over two hours, testifying to its potency.

A Masterpiece from Barney’s Farm

Tangerine Dream by Barney’s Farm is a testament to the seed bank’s consistent excellence. With its unique flavor profile, generous yields, and potent effects, it’s a strain that stands out in every aspect.

The Doc’s experience with Tangerine Dream was overwhelmingly positive, and he looks forward to many more sessions with this exceptional strain.
