Tangerine Dream Auto Grow Report

Ellis D. has a penchant for auto-flowering cannabis strains. Unlike his friend, The Doc, who cynically believes “autos belong in a dark garage,” Ellis D. appreciates the undeniable benefits of these strains.

He confidently places an auto plant in his Growfor.life cabinet and enjoys a relaxed, automated growing experience.

The Tangerine Dream Seed and Its Characteristics

Ellis D. was aware of The Doc’s successful cultivation of Barney’s Farm’s “Tangerine Dream” strain. When a friend offered him a seed of Tangerine Dream Auto, he was thrilled.

Barney’s Farm describes this auto version as having the same characteristics as the original: thick, juicy flower clusters with sweet citrusy notes, a mentally stimulating yet physically relaxing effect, and high yields (up to 500g/m2).

The sativa-dominant (60%) plants have slightly lower THC and higher CBD counts, resulting in a more subdued consumption experience. The plants typically reach 60-70 cm in height and mature in 70-75 days.

Growth and Development

The Tangerine Dream Auto seed sprouted quickly, and within 2.5 days, the seedling was basking in the light from the SANlight LEDs in the grow cabinet.

It grew rapidly, and within two weeks, it had developed into a bushy plant with initial branch formation. Ellis D. noticed female pre-flowering along the branches just a few days later.

Flowering Stage and Bud Development

During the flowering stage, the plant exhibited distinct stretching behavior. The main shoot and numerous lateral branches grew upwards while maintaining compactness. Bud development was impressive, with dense flower clusters emerging from bottom to top.

The resin output far exceeded Ellis D.’s expectations. He reported,

“These fat buds are heavily crusted in resin, a condition that extends over the entirety of larger multi-fingered flower leaves. The aroma is a fresh, sweet and sour blend of sweet tangerines and tangy limes.”

Tangerine Dream Auto Harvest and Yield

At a final height of 72 cm and 73 days after sowing, the Tangerine Dream Auto plant matured. The low leaf share of the buds made the harvest work comfortable for Ellis D. On weighing day, the scale read 88 grams, which he considered a great achievement.

“These dense hard nuggets are like citrusy aroma stones – their citrus-infused bouquet has been fully preserved through the drying process,” said a delighted Ellis D.

Taste Test and Effects

The taste test was equally satisfying. Ellis D. described the citrusy freshness and sweet film left on his palate as a lasting, flavorful experience.

The effect was mentally vivifying and slightly euphoric, while physically relaxing. Ellis D. described it as having a nice ‘butter factor,’ making his limbs feel pleasantly supple. The effect was as strong as with good THC-rich non-auto strains and lasted long, about one and three quarters of an hour.

Conclusion

Ellis D. concluded, “Tangerine Dream Auto is a remarkably well-made auto strain that comes very close to the original plant!

After Skywalker OG Auto, this was my second automatic variety from Barney’s Farm, and I have every reason to credit them with outstanding auto breeding work. I’m looking forward to my next auto test ride with Barney’s…”
