Amnesia Lemon Grow Report

Who among cannabis breeders could resist the opportunity to secure the original genetics of a High Times Cannabis Cup-winning strain? The Amnesia Haze strain from Soma Seeds claimed the top prize at the HTCC in 2004. Derry, from Barney’s Farm, was the fortunate breeder who received Soma’s finest Amnesia Haze phenotype post-Cup.

This led to a challenging question for Derry: what variety should be crossed with Amnesia Haze to create a new strain? After all, Soma had not intended for the strain to join the Barney’s Farm selection in its pure, unmodified form.

Guided by the intention to maintain sativa dominance, Derry identified the sativa-inclined Lemon Skunk strain as the ideal hybridization partner.

The result was a splendid new sativa plant, Amnesia Lemon, with a 60% sativa genetic makeup. The strain boasts a fresh, citrusy aroma and delivers an invigorating cerebral effect.

With medium height growth, 60-65 days of flowering yields long, dense buds that can provide an impressive 550 grams per square meter. The strain also flourishes outdoors, maturing in early to mid-October.

Promising Performance in the Vegetative Stage

This impressive crossbreed from Barney’s Farm was a must-grow for The Doc, known for his successful cultivation of Amnesia Haze variants. The two feminized seeds sprouted within three days, validating Barney’s reputation for reliable germination.

Anticipating strong growth from this sativa-dominant variety, The Doc estimated three weeks of vegetation would yield robust plants. This proved accurate, as the Amnesia Lemon plants quickly grew to 36 and 37 cm, exhibiting robust lateral branching alongside impressive vertical growth.

The slender, sativa-leaning leaves hinted at their genetic heritage. Optimistic, The Doc noted, “They’re already presenting well, poised for an explosive flowering stage. This is shaping up to be a grand cultivation show!”

A Fertile Foliage Display: The Flowering Stage

As anticipated, the plants displayed significant stretch behavior in the flowering stage, increasing their height by a factor of 2.5 within 4.5 weeks. This vigorous growth led to an abundance of budding sites that developed beautifully into sizeable, weighty flowers with a high calyx-to-leaf ratio.

Each plant sported a towering central cola surrounded by a plethora of thick side buds. The two plants maintained uniformity, blossoming into fat, dense, resin-soaked flowers within 61 to 63 days.

In the final three weeks, they swelled and unleashed a flood of trichomes, perfuming the air with a tantalizing, lemony scent. Achieving heights of 92 and 96 cm, both plants neared the one-meter mark. “This is truly a spectacular finish,” an elated Doc reported.

A Citrus Celebration: Harvest and Drying

After harvest and drying, the total yield of Amnesia Lemon was a substantial 193 grams. The dried buds, now rock-hard trichome-laden nuggets, exuded an even more potent lemon fragrance.

The Doc described the aroma as “homemade lemonade with a sprig of rosemary, presenting a strong lemon base with a subtly spicy herbal note – a true feast for citrus aficionados!”

An Invigorating Vitality Boost: The Test Session

The Doc proceeded to load half a gram of Amnesia Lemon into his Crafty+ vaporizer, commencing the test session. The first puff delivered a fresh, zesty flavor, leading with a sour-citrus tang complemented by a sweet undertone.

This delightful combination prompted The Doc to exclaim, “It fills your mouth with a burst of freshness – Amnesia Lemon is a deliciously psychedelic experience!” The effects were felt almost instantaneously, causing a buzzing sensation throughout his body and a surge of euphoria.

The strain served as a revitalizing boost for The Doc, shaking him out of his lethargy and sparking a productive cleaning spree in his living room.

He commended the strain’s invigorating properties, saying, “This stuff really gets you moving. It’s great for those who want to remain active after using marijuana.”

In his summary, The Doc praised Amnesia Lemon for its “sparkling fresh citrus power à la Barney’s. Yet another strain from breeder Derry that hits all the right notes and impresses from start to finish. It’s refreshing to know we can consistently rely on this seed company. I can’t wait to explore the next Barney’s Farm strain.”
