Flower loses its smell, its potency and its texture to the wrong container. Glass with a sealed lid holds all three where they belong, and this jar is sized for the amount you are working through now rather than the whole harvest.
Why glass for flower
Glass does not carry a smell from the last thing it held, and it does not build static the way plastic bags and containers do. Static pulls trichomes off the buds and onto the walls, which is potency you paid for sticking to the packaging. Borosilicate is also tougher than ordinary glass and handles temperature changes without cracking.
Light, heat and humidity
Clear glass lets light through, and light breaks down THC and terpenes over time. Keep the jar in a drawer or a cupboard, away from windows, radiators and the top of the fridge. Flower keeps best at around 58 to 62 percent relative humidity. Much drier and it turns harsh, much wetter and it risks mold.
A jar for seeds
The same conditions that suit flower suit cannabis seeds: dark, cool and dry. Seeds you are not planting this season keep well in a sealed jar at the back of the fridge, with a small silica pack to hold humidity down. Let the jar reach room temperature before opening so condensation does not form inside.
Looking after the wooden lid
Wash the glass in warm soapy water, or with isopropyl alcohol if resin has built up. Wipe the lid with a damp cloth and never soak it, because wood swells and the seal stops fitting. Let both parts dry fully before refilling.
