Rolling ahead only pays off if the roll survives the journey. This tin is built around that problem, with an insert that holds each cone upright and a metal shell that takes the knocks instead of the paper.
Why cones get crushed
A filled cone in a pocket or a bag gets bent at the tip, and a bent tip either spills flower or will not draw. The insert in this tin holds each cone apart and vertical, with the filter end down, so nothing leans on the paper. The tin itself takes the knocks.
Filling the cones
Grind medium to fine, since coarse flower leaves air pockets and the cone runs. Fill in stages: add some flower, tap the filter end on the table so it settles, and pack it lightly with a poker or a pen. Stop about half a centimeter from the top, then twist the end closed. Packed too tight, it will not draw. Packed too loose, it canoes.
Everyday carry
A tin keeps its contents from getting damp and keeps loose flower out of your bag. Once the five included cones are gone, refill the tin with cones of the same size, or with hand-rolled joints of a similar length.
